Westminster, CO. Activate Indoor Park serves the Denver metro area by providing a safe and fun family environment featuring mega-trampolines, ropes courses, bumper cars, arcades and, of course, laser tag.
Upgrading an old laser tag system can breathe new life into a family entertainment center. Sometimes this is done in tandem with the implementation of a new theme, but in the case of Activate Indoor Park, addressing their laser tag system and service took priority.
To upgrade their laser tag system, Jake Roth, the General Manager at Activate Indoor Park, knew exactly where to begin shopping: IAAPA–North America’s largest amusement industry trade show. IAAPA is a good opportunity to see what’s out there, to talk to vendors, attend educational seminars and share stories with industry veterans.
“The reason we chose LaserBlast was definitely because of the wireless charging,” said Jake, “and having the ability to easily take vests off the racks–easy throughput, and not having to worry about long wait times or wait lines.” First introduced in 2011, LaserBlast’s wireless chargers are field-proven in terms of reliability and ergonomic functionality. The reason laser tag attractions are known to have the highest revenue per square foot per operating hour is because of their remarkable throughput, and wireless charging further optimizes this strength.
The One-Touch Start Button, as well as LaserBlast’s Smart Mission Briefing Videos, help arena marshals manage large crowds. “The training videos are a lot more thorough compared to other ones that I’ve seen before,” Jake remarked. “When they’re done with the video, they grab the vests, they take their fun selfies, and they’re good to go. All they have to do is press the button, which for us is really simple.”
A commercial laser tag system can expect to undergo hundreds of thousands of plays over the course of its life. From butterfingered children dropping phasers on the floor to excited adults colliding into wall panels, laser tag equipment is going to sustain some serious abuse. The key to ensuring the laser tag attraction is profitable is ensuring that there is as little downtime as possible. LaserBlast offers 24 hr emergency IT support. “Anytime that I’ve ever needed to get ahold of him, Mike has gotten back to me, even though I know he’s the president of the company,” said Jake. “It means a lot to me that things are getting done when I ask about it.” With LaserBlast, this service is fee-free. “Our previous company actually used a licensing fee that was close to a few thousand a year that, if we didn’t pay, we wouldn’t get the ability to use support.”
Jake and the team were also impressed with the selfie-cams embedded into each CyberBlast Pro Phaser. “Our perspective is, with the selfie cameras, people are able to see who is playing. For example, we used to have to keep the door open whenever kids were playing because parents would be like, ‘our child is playing; can I see who’s playing, because I need to know where my kid is.’ Now we can say, ‘hey, look, if your kid’s on the screen you definitely know they’re in there. The selfie camera gives that big experience for even the parents that try to participate in it.” He also added, “plus the kids get to know who shoots them on the inside.”
We are excited for the future of Activate Indoor Park, and immensely proud that they chose to go with LaserBlast for their upgrade. Their multi-leveled arena encourages dynamic and engaging gameplay. With the 70” tv leaderboard, spectators will be able to see how the players are doing within. It is always a pleasure to work with operators whose employees are so passionate about laser tag. With personalities like Jake’s and the team’s at the helm, we’re certain laser tag has a bright future in Colorado.
