Laser Tag vs. Gel Blasters
Durable Equipment.
Reliable System.
Proven Profitable Attraction.
Laser tag attractions have been around for decades and there is a reason for that – they work! From their fast ROI, to low operational and maintenance costs, laser tag attractions are a great way to boost profits at your FEC.
Our lightweight, futuristic vests and phasers, packed with exciting features and epic arena options make our LaserBlast CyberBlast Pro system perfect for players of all ages.
With 16 different angled hit sensors, haptic feedback when tagged, various powerups and weapon types, dual aiming and tagging lasers, and interactive arena components, players will feel fully immersed in the game. Plus, laser tag is completely safe for all ages with no safety gear required.
Compared to systems that offer a finite amount of ammo, lower durability, higher upfront and ongoing costs, fewer features and game formats, and a more limited demographic, it’s a no brainer. Laser tag attractions just make more sense.
Player & Game Duration
CyberBlast Laser Tag
One CyberBlast Pro software can accommodate up to 60-players at a time. There are no ammo limits (unless you specify them in the game format), giving flexibility to host rapid fire game variants, or longer game times.
Gel Blaster
Only 24-players can play at once. Finite amounts of ammo limits tagging capacity and game durations.
Throughput
CyberBlast Laser Tag
Lightweight and split front vest with magnet latch.
Grab and go- no syncing or pre-game reload or wipe downs required.
Rapid turnaround time & simple operation with a single attendant. A typical laser tag game is 8 minutes, with briefing/preparation and margin for delays this allows for 4 games per hour, and up to 60 players per game. Some operators run shorter sessions of as short as 3 minutes of gameplay, which allows for 10+ games per hour during peak times.
Gel Blaster
Limited ammo capacity requires frequent reloading, slowing throughput. Larger over-the-head style vest takes longer to equip.
Upfront & Ongoing Costs
CyberBlast Laser Tag
Lower upfront costs than most FEC attractions, lowest attraction insurance costs, high durability = low maintenance costs, only one attendant needed for operation, no recurring licensing fees, or pay-per-minute royalties, free support and software updates for life.
Gel Blaster
Higher upfront equipment costs, projectiles lead to higher insurance costs, multiple attendants needed to maintain throughput, lower durability optical sensors leading to more frequent and costly repair and replacement. Royalty/pay-per-play in addition to up front costs.
Demographic
CyberBlast Laser Tag
Great for all ages & genders. Sleek design, exciting features, and advanced game formats help the game to still appeal to an older demographic. Ease-of-use makes the product great for all ages. Vestless phaser options allow smaller children and disabled individuals who may be unable to wear a vest to be included in the game. The front magnetic latch makes the vest easy and comfortable to put on, with nothing going over your head.
Gel Blaster
Projectiles, bulky armor vests, and headgear narrow the demographic. Vests are too large for smaller players, and with no vestless option, the attraction is limited to those that can wear the vest. Required safety headgear can be a deterrent, and many people are not comfortable having something over their head & face (hygiene concerns, feels restrictive, can tarnish hair, makeup, etc).
Mobile Options
CyberBlast Laser Tag
Vestless option is great for mobile party and rental services, temporary or popup attractions, and multi-use spaces. Vestless phasers can be easily used by players of all ages and can run in the same games as vested equipment. This makes it ideal for young children and individuals with disabilities that may not be able to wear a vest.
Gel Blaster
No vestless or mobile scoring option available, limiting your options and your audience.
Operations & Staffing
CyberBlast Laser Tag
Equipment and software are easy-to-use. Games can be started with the push of a single button. Attraction can easily be operated with one attendant.
Gel Blaster
Multiple attendants are needed to achieve appropriate throughput, as gel balls will need to be hydrated and refilled regularly, and vesting is more cumbersome with over-the-head vest and 2 piece equipment that must be matched.
Accuracy & Tagging Range
CyberBlast Laser Tag
IR lasers offer a carefully calibrated tagging radius and longer tagging range. Our CyberBlast Pro system can easily tag 125′ or more.
Gel Blaster
Laser modulation requires precise tagging and gellets limit tagging range, making gameplay more difficult for players as most are not skilled shooters. Projectile tagging accuracy subject to gravity, begins to diminish after just 25′.
Maintenance
CyberBlast Laser Tag
Field-Proven since 1997. High durability of equipment leads to low maintenance costs. Complete 30-month all-inclusive warranty with new system purchases. No charge phone and web-based support.
Gel Blaster
Lower durability tagging sensors lead to fast wear out and more frequent replacement. Blasters & vests are separate, requiring two batteries & modems each, increasing maintenance frequency and cost.
Arena Options & Game Formats
CyberBlast Laser Tag
A wide variety of interactive arena options. Over 30 game formats are included, such as limited health and recharge game formats. Operators can also create their own game formats and change all variables. Many game formats utilize interactive arena components like DMX special effects, interactive projector opponents, touch sensors, mines, targets, and access gates, making the game more immersive.
Gel Blaster
Basic arena targets are available to score points. Limited game format availability.
Tagging Feedback
CyberBlast Laser Tag
Haptic feedback in both the vest and phaser allows players to feel a vibration where they were tagged on one of the 16 hit sensors. The vibration is exciting and noticeable without being painful.
Gel Blaster
Gellets do cause some pain upon impact, which is generally compared to the sting of being snapped by a rubber band. While this may be appealing to a niche group of players, the pain component will also be a turn off for others.
Interactive Arena Options Take the Game to the Next Level
Our interactive arena options bring your arena to life, creating a completely immersive play environment for your players. Boost your repeat play and stand out from the competition with interactive arena options.
