Why Laser Tag and Arcades are the Perfect Complimentary Attractions

Laser tag and arcade games have a lot in common. They have both been around for decades and are staples in family entertainment centers all over the world.  What is it about laser tag and arcades that make them the perfect complimentary attraction to each other? Let’s take a look!

Laser tag games run at specific times, while arcade games can be played any time.

Laser tag is generally a group attraction; be it large or small, the competitive nature of the game lends best to multiple people playing at the same time. This means that games will usually take place at certain times to incorporate multiple people at once, varying based on how busy the attraction is on any given day or time.

If a laser tag game is purchased and the next game is not starting for 20 minutes, that player is going to need something to occupy their time during the waiting period. Shorter wait times may not give a player time to participate in certain attractions such as mini golf or go karting that can take up longer periods of time. Arcade games are perfect for these waiting periods because individual games tend to be quick.

A player can easily get in a handful of arcade games while waiting for their laser tag group to be called. This keeps the player both entertained during their waiting time and spending more money in your fun center.

Together, they provide options for people that have preferences toward either solo or group attractions.

Though there are multi-player arcade games, most tend to be solo player, and almost all at least have a solo player option. While interactive arena enhancements make it possible for solo play, laser tag is a lot more fun with a group.  Even a small family group of 3-4 can have a great time with the right interactive equipment & arena. The contrast of group play and solo play options make these attractions the perfect pair for family and friends outings as they appeal to different types of preferences.

Also, arcade games do not need to be played on any particular schedule, eliminating concerns of trying to coordinate start and end times like may need to be done with other attractions.

Laser tag is more physical, while many arcade games can be played even while sitting.

Just about anyone that has played a game of laser tag will tell you that it can get the heart beating! Between the adrenaline boost driven by the exciting arena and competitive atmosphere to the walking, ducking, and various arm movements for zapping, it can be a great source of physical activity.

Arcade games provide a great opportunity for resting between laser tag games and engaging members of groups that were looking for a more sedentary activity.

On the other hand, the option of laser tag provides an increase in the physical activity that arcade goers would normally have which can easily lead to more visits to your concessions stand.

These attractions pair well together for birthday party packages.

Birthday parties are a fundamental part of any fun center’s business. Laser tag and arcade games seem to be a predominant birthday party package feature. These are easy attractions to pair together, largely because they can easily be used to fit a standard 2-3 hour party time slot and offer a good variety of play for guests.

Consider a possible birthday party schedule of laser tag, food/cake, arcade time, and finishing off with another game of laser tag. These attractions can easily keep a schedule moving while still giving ample time for traditional party formalities like opening gifts.

They also can be easily adjusted for creating pricing tiers in party package options. Slight variances like 1 game vs. 2 games of laser tag or $3 vs. $5 in play credits per guest make it easy to allow guests to customize exactly what will work best for their group and their budget.
