Look around and you will see more and more bowling centers adding on other popular fun center attractions to their venues. With the opportunity to generate additional revenue, attract new customers, and keep guests in your facility longer it seems like an obvious choice. The question then becomes what attraction or attractions make the most sense for your center.

Laser tag is a great place to get started for many reasons. From excellent ROI to low operational costs, laser tag is a profitable place to begin expanding your bowling center.

Let’s take a look at five reasons why should consider adding a laser tag attraction to your bowling center.

1. Low Operational Costs

Laser tag has a lower cost of entry than many other attraction options on the market and operational and maintenance fees are minimal. Once installed, laser tag games cost next to nothing to run. A laser tag attraction can easily be run with one attendant (especially with our single-button push start), keeping labor costs low.

Additionally, our equipment is extremely durable and built to last. You won’t have to worry about needing a new system after just a few years; basic maintenance and occasional repairs will keep you going.  Most maintenance that would be needed over time is easy enough that it could be done in-house, saving shipping and repair costs.

2. High Throughput

Laser tag is also a high throughput attraction. With average experience times around 15 minutes, it is very feasible to run four games an hour. With a 20-30 vest system, 80-120 guests can cycle through your attraction per hour, giving you a high earning potential.

3. Fast ROI

Largely due to the items mentioned above, many laser tag attractions see a positive ROI in their first year of business. After that, your attraction will continuing running and generating revenue for years to come and without any recurring fees, that money stays in your pocket.

4. Attract New Guests

As more and more specialized family entertainment venues (bowling centers, cinemas, skating rinks) convert into multi—attraction fun centers,  guests are going to be seeking out multi-attraction facilities. Additional attractions are a great way to bring guests that would not normally go out to a traditional bowling center.

People that may have never come into your facility before are now there spending money on other attractions, enjoying food and beverages, and maybe even purchasing a game of bowling that caught their eye as they walked by the lanes.

5. More Time & Money Spent Per Guest

With more exciting options available, guests will need more time to enjoy everything they want to at your fun center, and they will naturally end up spending more money while they do it.

Bowling league members may play a game of laser tag after they are done bowling for the day. Mom and dad might bring their kids that they used to leave at home in to enjoy laser tag while they bowl, and since they don’t have to rush home to their kids they can enjoy an additional game of bowling.

Additionally, more time spent will lead to more food and beverage purchases. Laser tag is a physical game after a few rounds, guests are going to want to replenish themselves.

Finding the Space

Space allocation can be one of the trickiest parts of adding any new attraction to your facility. No matter what type of attraction you go for, you are going to need space for it.

The good news is that this tends to be a little easier for bowling centers than other types of venues because space can be made by taking out a few lanes. For most bowling venues, removing 8-12 lanes would work perfectly for adding a laser tag attraction and arcade (these two attractions pair great together).

If you want a smaller laser tag arena or would not want to add the arcade aspect as well, as few as six lanes could be sufficient. If you have too many lanes and want to reallocate some more space, more lanes can always be replaced for larger arenas, more arcade games, and additional exciting attractions.

If the thought of replacing lanes makes you cringe, but you still love the thought of adding a laser tag attraction, there may be other space options available you. Some areas you may want to consider are:

    • Unused offices or storage space.
    • Lounge areas that don’t get much traffic.
    • Neighboring spaces that are unoccupied, especially if you are in a mall.
    • Adding additional space onto your building if possible.

Expanding the attractions, you offer is a great way to bring in new guests and increase the time and money spent at your facility per guest. Laser tag is an ideal attraction to help you get started converting your bowling center to a multi-attraction venue.
